Bumblebees

bumblebee on flower

Bumblebees are important pollinators but do not produce much honey.  They stay pretty small, usually just a little bit less than an inch. They have the distinctive "bee colors" of black and yellow (though sometimes can have white bands instead) and have hairy abdomens and legs.

These bees do not die after they sting.  They build their nests in a variety of areas, such as attics, eaves, under decks, and in the ground.
